continuous of the periosteum of 2 bones within lining of the cavity = synovial membrane which releases synovial fluid

Synovial Fluid

slippery fluid that contains a lot of a protein called albumin

articular cartilage

coats the surface of the epiphesis (top) of the long bones

pad of fibrocartilage
absorbs shock
ex: knee

attaches muscle to bone

attaches bone to bone

Bursa

extra pockets of synovial fluid

bursae definition

extensions of the joint capsule they contain extra synovial fluid for extra padding
ex. elbows, shoulders and knees

tendons sheaths:

elongated cylinders columned shaped of tendons that wrap around parts of the joint to provide extra protection.
ex. hands and feet
